Who it's for
For the back of a team shirt
Club and pub team shirts, school PE tops, or a birthday tee with their age as the number.
Surname and squad number, kit-style.
Names on PE tops and kit bags.
Names and numbers for league-night shirts.
Their name, with their age as the number.
How to order
From your words to your door
Name and number, or number only. Then the size that matches the wearer.
I cut what you type, letter for letter, so check the spelling. Then choose the finish and colour.
Weeded by hand, held on a clear sheet and posted in a stiff envelope. A couple of minutes with your iron and it's on.
Kitting out a team? Open any name and number design and, in the design tool, add a transfer for each player, each with its own name and number. You see the price as you go.
Size guide
Pick the size by the wearer's age
Each size is made for one age, and sets the height of the name and number together. Here is each one on the back of the top it is made for.
Each top is seen from the back, with the name and number drawn to scale for that size. Chest widths are typical for each age, measured flat from armpit to armpit. Between two sizes? Measure across the back of the shirt.
The look
Matte, neon, glitter or metallic?
Matte is the everyday favourite and copes with the smallest letters. Neon shouts, glitter sparkles, metallic catches the light.
Colours for each finish are shown in the options on every design. Ready-made designs in glitter start at 15cm wide.
Got a heat press? Here are the settings
| Finish | Temperature | Time | Peel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Matte and Neon | 140-150°C | 8-10 seconds | Hot or cold |
| Glitter | 150-160°C | 12-15 seconds | Warm or cold |
| Metallic | 140-150°C | 7-10 seconds | Cold |
Firm, even pressure. If the vinyl starts to melt, drop to 140°C and shorten the time.
In the envelope
Everything you need, bar the iron
- 1Your design, already cut, with the spare vinyl picked out
- 2Held on a clear plastic sheet, so every letter stays in place
- 3Posted flat in a stiff envelope, so it doesn't crease
- 4A printed card with the same ironing and washing steps you see below
At home
On in about two minutes
Your iron and a sheet of baking paper are all it takes.
Cotton or linen setting, steam off. Work on a hard, flat surface like a worktop, not an ironing board.
Iron the spot for 10-15 seconds to smooth out any creases.
Clear plastic side up, exactly where you want it.
Lay the baking paper over the top.
Press down firmly for 15-20 seconds. Don't slide the iron, and don't overdo the heat.
Wait 5-10 seconds, then peel the plastic away slowly from one corner.
One last press: put the baking paper back and press for 5 seconds. It gives a smoother finish that lasts longer.

Before you buy
Will it work on my top?
A crossed-out iron on the label, or sportswear with a coated or very stretchy finish, means the transfer won't stay on. This is what that looks like:
Fabrics it loves, and fabrics to skip
Also not for wool, nylon, lace or leather.
In every order
A little heart to try first
- Look at the care label: an iron symbol is fine, a crossed-out iron is not.
- Iron the small test heart onto a hidden spot, like the inside of a hem.
- Happy with it? Put the real transfer on.
If it goes on a fabric to skip, or the steps aren't followed, that isn't a fault in the transfer. If the transfer itself is faulty, I'll put it right. This doesn't affect your legal rights. Returns and refunds

Questions
Good to know before you order
Will it stick to a football shirt?
It works on cotton, polyester and poly-cotton shirts. Some sports shirts have a coated or very stretchy finish, and the vinyl can lift from those in the wash. Check the care label, and if you're not sure, email me a photo of it before you order.
Can I order for a whole team?
Yes. Open any name and number design and, in the design tool, add a transfer for each player, each with their own name and number. You'll see the price as you go, and the multi-buy saving comes off automatically at checkout.
Can you add a club badge or sponsor logo?
No, I can't add badges or logos. I cut names, numbers and lettering only.
Which lettering styles can I choose?
Four: Jersey, Athletic, Premier and Racing. You'll see each one in the design tool.
Do I need a heat press?
No. A household iron does the job. If you have a press, the settings for each finish are in the materials guide.
I spotted a typo after ordering. Can you fix it?
Email me straight away at info@denmary.co.uk. If I haven't cut it yet, I'll change it. Orders often go to the cutter within minutes, so the sooner the better.
It didn't stick, or the edges lifted in the wash. What now?
It doesn't happen often, and a second press usually fixes it. If it didn't stick, cover it with baking paper and press firmly for 15-20 seconds on a hard surface. If the edges lifted after washing, cover it and press for 5 seconds. Still not holding? Send me a photo of the transfer and the care label, and if the transfer is at fault, I'll send you a new one or refund you, whichever you prefer.
Why do transfers sometimes come off?
When it happens, it's usually because the iron wasn't pressed down hard enough, the top was washed too soon, or the fabric is coated or very stretchy. Checking the label and following the six steps avoids nearly all of it.

About this collection
More about Sport Names & Numbers
Name and number sets for the back of a team shirt, cut from heat-transfer vinyl to order. There are sets for football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, basketball and volleyball, plus school PE kit and sports day, many in kids and adult versions.
Sizes run from Baby, for age 0-2, to XL+, for adult XL and XXL. I pick out the spare vinyl by hand and post each set flat, ready to iron onto a cotton, polyester or poly-cotton shirt at home. Choose matte, neon, glitter or metallic.
You only need a household iron, baking paper and a hard surface. The application guide shows how to line the number up and press it. For club names and team wording, see sports team transfers.
Made by hand in Lancashire and posted in 1-2 working days. One postage charge covers a whole team order, and UK delivery is free from £35.
